Luis, the blog update is great but you need to learn how to put the pictures side by side as referencing and good design - think of this as a design project.
The shine in the scorpian's shell is great! I also Like the shadow in the back, not many people have done that. I'd just watch out for the placement of the shine; it has to match where the light is coming from and the shadow, or else people won't know where the sun really is (unless there's 2 suns, lol)
A very simple illustration that has a quaint feeling but not exactly the same as the illustration, The tail is the best part, the use of the gradient and the marks over the top done randomly are so much more effective that the very generic blue gradient thorax. The claws are too simple and watch where the black shadow sits on top of the claw.
